Dr. Yasmeen Qadri is one of the founders and principal of the Muslim Academy of Central Florida, the first full-time Islamic School in Central Florida. She earned her Doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Central Florida in 1994. Dr. Qadri received her Masters in Child Psychology from Osmania University, India, and another Masters in Social Sciences from the University of Central Florida. She served as a teacher for sixteen years and a principal for ten years. She has lived and taught in the Middle East and has intensely experienced multiculturalism. She moved to the United States in 1979, and has since then chosen to be its citizen. Dr. Qadri is presently the Education Coordinator and a tenured Professor of Education at Valencia Community College in Orlando, FL and is the recipient of multiple awards including Endowed Chair and Destinations. She is also the advisor of two student clubs; Muslim Students Association and Valencia Future Educators.
Dr. Qadri has presented numerous seminars and workshops at conferences sponsored by a variety of different organizations including the Florida Council of Independent Schools, Islamic Society of North America, Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, American Association for Teaching and Curriculum, ISCHE Conference--Faiths and Colonial/Missionary Activity, and Islamic Medical Association.
In addition to her numerous seminars and workshops, Dr. Qadri has been invited by both Public and Private schools, and Colleges and Universities to address them on topics such as Middle East and Asia through Social Studies Education, Cross-Cultural Training, Multiculturalism, Character Education, Teachers Training, and Parenting. She is also a presenter at National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ), Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL), Florida Law Related Education, Presbyterian Church and Women's Multi-Faith Group.
Rather than limiting her expertise to one school in Orlando, she has now extended her efforts to schools at the state, national, and international levels. Dr. Qadri was invited to share her expertise by Islamic Schools around North America; her recent visits were to Texas, Alabama, Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey, and California. She provides training in the areas of professional development for teachers, principals, and school boards, effective parent involvement, opening a full-time Islamic school, and curriculum design with technology integration.
In May 2004, she was invited as a Muslim woman delegate to the World Congress on Civic Education at Budapest, Hungary. In 2008 she had the opportunity to visit Malaysia, Singapore, and India to address the role education can play in helping build a better world.
Mr. Kamran Qadri is currently a tenured teacher with Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) in Orlando, FL. He is certified in Middle Grades Mathematics and Science, and Educational Leadership in the States of Florida, Virginia, and Georgia.
In addition to teaching full-time for OCPS, Mr. Qadri is also an Adjunct Professor at Valencia Community College and teaches Introduction to Education and Teaching Diverse Populations, the core foundations courses for aspiring educators. Mr. Qadri has also taught Diversity and Professional Foundations courses for the Educator Preparation Institute, an alternative teacher certification program. He has taught these courses in a variety of formats including the evening, weekend, intensive, hybrid and online. As a professor teaching future educators, Mr. Qadri has had the privilege of sharing with his students the connection between the theoretical aspects of education and the practical aspects.
Mr. Qadri earned his Bachelors in Science Education and a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Central Florida.
Mr. Farhan Qadri is currently the Course Help Desk Manager at the Florida Virtual School's (FLVS) headquarters in Orlando, FL which currently enrolls 31,000 students across Florida. Prior to coming to FLVS, Mr. Qadri served as the Technology Coordinator at Discovery Middle School and Southwest Middle School, where he managed the school's network, assisted in preparing and planning the school based technology plan, provided hardware and software support, designed and maintained the school website, and taught a course in TV production, and provided technical support to faculty, staff, and students on campus.
Mr. Qadri received his Associates of Science degree in Computer Information Technology from Valencia Community College, his Bacelors of Science degree in Exceptional Student Education from Barry University's Adrian Dominican School of Education, and is in the process of pursuing a Masters of Arts degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Central Florida.
Mr. Qadri has technical certificates in the areas of computer program specialist and web development specialist and has a teaching certificate in Exceptional Student Education with an ESOL Endorsement.
